West Indies opener Shai Hopes took a huge leap in the latest ODI batsmen rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The right-hander batsman-keeper had a brilliant outing against Sri Lanka in the recent ODI series which West Indies won by a 3-0 margin.

Hope scored the most runs in the ODI series- 258 at an average of 86.00 and strike-rate of 82.42 hitting one century and two half-centuries along with 21 fours and 3 sixes to his name. West Indies had beaten Sri Lanka by 8 wickets, 5 wickets, and 5 wickets respectively in the ODI series and before that, the home side had beaten the Sri Lankans 2-1 in the T20I series as well.

Shai Hope made 110 in 133 balls with 12 fours and 1 six as West Indies chased down 233 runs in 47 overs in the first ODI. He then scored 84 in 108 balls with 6 fours to his name in the second ODI, which West Indies won by 5 wickets chasing down 274 runs. In the third ODI, Hope scored 64 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes in 72 balls, as his team won by 5 wickets, chasing down 275 runs. These performances led to Shai Hope reaching the 8th spot in the latest ODI rankings with 773 rating points.

Shai Hope has a total of 8547 runs in 81 ODIs for West Indies with the best score of 170 at an average of 53.74 with 10 centuries and 19 fifties to his name.
Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Reign At The Top Two Of The ICC ODI Batting Rankings
The rankings see India’s Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma sitting pretty at the top two spots with 870 and 842 rating points respectively. India last played ODIs against Australia down under in 2020, but Rohit Sharma played his last ODI at home against Australia in 2020.

Babar Azam of Pakistan with 837 rating points, New Zealand’s Ross Taylor with 818 points, and Australia captain Aaron Finch with 791 rating points roundup the top 5 of the latest ICC ODI rankings. Faf du Plessis, David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Quinton de Kock complete the top 10 ODI batters.
The next ODI series will see New Zealand take on Bangladesh and India battling England.
