There is no doubt about the fact that MS Dhoni is one of the finest captains India has ever produced. His record as a skipper in all formats of the game speaks volume about a man who had led India to many memorable victories. Despite not being the captain of the current Indian team, he passes on useful information to the skipper.

Virat Kohli can be seen talking with Dhoni regarding field placements and taking the reviews. He is a great guy to have around, and his presence of mind will surely come in very handy as long as he plays for India.

During India’s Asia Cup 2018 match against Bangladesh, Dhoni’s instincts were yet again on display. It was during the first over of Ravindra Jadeja that Dhoni went up to skipper Rohit Sharma and asked him to make a field placement which worked wonders on the very next delivery. Ravindra Jadeja was targeted quite brilliantly by Shakib Al Hasan in his first over and struck some exceptional shots. However, Rohit Sharma brought Shikhar Dhawan to square leg removing him from the cover region.

On the very next delivery, Shakib ended up giving a simple catch to Shikhar Dhawan at the square leg position. It was the instant result after a suggestion given by MS Dhoni. It is not the first time that Dhoni’s tactics have worked for India. He has done this so often. Even if doesn’t score too many runs for India, his presence in the field is enough to disturb any opposition.

Coming back to the match, it was an utterly dominant performance by India. Bangladesh could only muster a score of 173 runs after batting first. All of the Indian bowlers were superb. Ravindra Jadeja who was making a comeback was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 48 runs. It was a great spell by Jaddu which stemmed Bangladesh’s run flow.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah also bowled effectively and bagged a couple of crucial wickets. Chasing the target, India was in no discomfort what so ever.

Rohit Sharma looked in great touch and yet again and score a back-to-back half-century. He remained unbeaten on 82, as India chased the target with 84 balls to spare. MS Dhoni also chipped in with a useful knock of 33 off 37 deliveries. India eventually romped home by seven wickets to register their 1st win of the Super 4’s.
