The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League is all set to witness a significant comeback, as none other than the legendary Shane Warne is bracing up to light up the much-awaited eleventh season of the league.

The former Australia spin spearhead was one of the biggest names in the early years of the Indian Premier League. In the inaugural season of the league in 2008, the former leggie had defied all the odds to lead Rajasthan Royals to the title, despite the team being written off as a title contender by the media and fans.

He went on to lead the franchise for three more seasons but could not replicate the magic, as the Rajasthan-based outfit finished 6th, 7th and 7th in the three years following the title triumph.

But while Shane Warne’s last three seasons in the IPL were not as memorable as he would have wanted, he will always be remembered for leading the underdogs of the tournament to a monumental title triumph in 2008.

Well, the bowling legend is now all ready to make a comeback to the league in the upcoming season. It will be Warne’s first association with the tournament in any capacity since he retired in the fourth season in 2011.

The 48-year old himself took to Twitter to announce his comeback. However, he kept everyone in suspense by writing:

“Looking forward to making an announcement to you guys this week which I’m very excited about & yes it involves the #IPL2018 !”

Coming to his international career, Warne, widely regarded as the best leg-spinner of all time and undoubtedly the most decorated in the history of the game, represented Australia in 145 Tests and 194 One-Day Internationals.

With 708 wickets to his name; he is the second leading wicket-taker in Tests. In ODIs, he picked up 293 wickets.
