Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is all set to don the yellow jersey in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League after he was roped in by the Chennai Super Kings in the Auctions today. After an intense battle between Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, the all-rounder eventually went to Chennai Super Kings for a price of Rs 4 crores.

Watson has been part of the IPL on most occasions and has the prior experience of playing for the Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous editions of the tournament. Taking to his twitter handle, Watson thanked his previous teams and stated that it’s time for Whistle Podu.

Thanks so much to @rajasthanroyals and @RCBTweets for all of the amazing memories. Now it’s an exciting new journey ahead with @ChennaiIPL #WhistlePodu. Watson has been a prolific performer in the IPL and was a part of the Rajasthan Royals outfit during the opening season of the tournament in 2008 which was won by the Royals under the captaincy of Shane Warne.

Watson hasn’t been in the best of forms with either the bat Nor the ball in recent times, but on his day, Watson still can whack the long handle to good effect and score runs at a pretty brisk pace. He is also a useful bowler and can give his captain some crucial overs in the middle.
