Amid Chennai Super Kings’ resounding victory over Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets, many overlooked KL Rahul’s golden run of form this season. With 63 runs that went in vain against Chennai Super Kings in Dubai on Sunday, KL Rahul was the top run-scorer for KXIP. Shane Watson and Faf Du Plessis, the chief architects of CSK’s ten-wicket victory, have highly praised the right-handed batting skills.

While KL Rahul did not begin the tournament on a positive note, he followed up with a whirlwind hundred against Royal Challengers Bangalore and a fifty against Rajasthan Royals. It is worth noting that there were debates around whether the Karnataka batsman batted slowly against Rajasthan and Chennai and instead should have played his natural game. However, with 302 runs in five matches, he holds the Orange Cap firmly.

Shane Watson, who secured the man of the match for his unbeaten 83, named KL Rahul as one of the most beautiful batsmen ever seen. The former Australian all-rounder feels glad to be up close and watch crafting his knocks.

What are your thoughts on KL Rahul? I think he is one of the most beautiful batsmen I have ever seen. Some of the shots he plays, I love being up close and personal to see,” Watson said in an IPL interview.

Faf Du Plessis echoes Shane Watson’s comments about KL Rahul:

Faf Du Plessis, who finished unbeaten at 87, added that the 28-year old makes batting look effortless and is amongst the best Indian batsmen at present. Du Plessis further stated that they were fortunate to get him out early as he could have carted the bowlers on any other day.

Definitely one of my favourite batters to watch. He can hit the ball far without much effort – there’s a lot of Indian batsmen who do that but he is probably on top of that, just makes it look really easy. So very happy that we got him out towards the end because he can smoke it as he did the other day,” Du Plessis mentioned.
