The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included swashbuckling India opener Shikhar Dhawan to India A squad for the last two unofficial ODIs against South Africa. The southpaw has been struggling for form in the recently concluded series and will hope to get his touch back.

Shikhar Dhawan comes as a replacement for injured Vijay Shankar. The all-rounder sustained a toe injury during the ICC World Cup 2019 which ruled him out of the competition. He made a comeback to professional cricket in the latter stages of Tamil Nadu Premier League. As a result, the selectors included him in the India A squad but a premature finger injury ruled him out once again.

Meanwhile, it will be a massive opportunity for Shikhar Dhawan to fine-tune his skills. The Delhi-born cricketer took the World Cup by storm in the opening match but suffered an injury to bow out. The return was not great during the limited-overs series against West Indies.

The southpaw managed to score 65 runs from three T20Is and two ODIs with the highest score of 36. Dhawan, who has retained his spot in the T20Is against South Africa will be desperate to get his form back. A natural stroke player, Shikhar Dhawan, will hope to spend some time in the middle and regain his confidence. India A have made a winning start beating South Africa A by 69 runs in Thiruvananthapuram.

India will take on South Africa in a three-match T20I series, starting September 15 at Dharamshala. The second T20I will be played in Mohali on September 18, and the third will be played in Bengaluru on September 22.
