Team India opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan took it to Twitter to share a message to Praveen Kumar after he announced his retirement from all forms. However, Praveen Kumar, known for his swing bowling had hung his boots from international cricket a few days back. Later, he revealed he would turn out for ONGC in company cricket. Meanwhile, the veteran swing bowler had played over 80 international matches bagging 112 wickets to his name.
However, the 32-year old made his ODI debut in November 2007 against Pakistan. Though the fast bowler didn’t represent in the 2011 World Cup, his heroics with the new ball in either of the formats had made him a household name.
However, Kumar has picked up 27 wickets in six Tests at a healthy average of 25.81. Furthermore, the fast bowler just had a good Test series against England in 2011, although, India were humiliated 0-4. Later, Kumar got overlooked, and he never got an opportunity to get back to the team after that.
Furthermore, Praveen Kumar has enjoyed a lot of 50 overs games. He had produced some memorable performances during his short span of 68 ODIs bagging 77 wickets.
Meanwhile, Kumar finished with career-best figures of four for 31, he claimed in the second final match of 2008 CB series against Australia. However, with the help of Kumar’s brilliant performance, India managed to win the game against the tough Australian side.
However, Shikhar Dhawan who had played with Kumar in the IPL and hailed the fast bowler for his contribution to India cricket. Much like him, Suresh Raina also wished Praveen Kumar good luck.
