Shoaib Akhtar was fond of the pace and bounce. He would wreak havoc with his abilities from the onset of the match. One of the legendary fast bowlers that Pakistan has produced, Shoaib Akhtar played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20Is, before hanging up his boots. He has 178 Test wickets, 247 ODI wickets and 19 T20I wickets to his name. The 44-year-old was one of the finest fast bowlers international cricket has ever witnessed.
Both of them express fast: Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee and Shaun Tait have bowled some of the fastest deliveries in the history of cricket. If Akhtar touched 161.3 kmph mark against England in 2003 at Newlands, Shaun Tait bowled a raging 161.1 kmph delivery against the same opponents at the Lord’s in 2010. Brett Lee, too, had touched same speed as Tait against New Zealand at Napier in 2005.
”Wonderful memory with Brett Lee and Shaun Tait. Both of them express fast,” Akhtar tweeted.
Shoaib Akhtar has quite a fan following in India even though he belongs from the team of the arch-rivals. Akhtar, in a significant revelation also said, he used to contribute 30 per cent of his match fee to the low income staff who worked with him for the broadcasters’ team.
Earlier, Shoaib Akhtar revealed a masterplan to dismiss Virat Kohli, where he would invite the India captain to drive the ball. He would pitch it full and wide and shape it away from the right-hander. And if that does not works, he would bowl at express pace to get the better off the prolific India batsman, said Shoaib Akhtar.
