Former Pakistan fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar recently caused a stir with his comments for legendary batsman Virender Sehwag. The ex-pacer took a jibe at Virender Sehwag for the latter’s old comment in which he said that the Pakistan ace praises India only for monetary gains.

Shoaib Akhtar took a dig at Virender Sehwag for his old comments, saying that he has more money than the swashbuckling Indian star’s hair on his head. Not only that, Akhtar also boasted about the huge number of followers he has on social media platform.

“I have more maal (money) than you have baal (hair) on your head. If you are not able to fathom that I have such high followers, then understand it. It has taken me 15 years to become Shoaib Akhtar. Yes, I have a huge fan following in India, but I criticised them when they did not play well in the first ODI against Australia,” Akhtar said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar is wrong:

Shoaib Akhtar might have boasted about his wealth and huge fan following but he is highly mistaken when compared to Virender Sehwag’s wealth. In fact, Shoaib Akhtar is well behind Virender Sehwag in terms of wealth. The former India opener has double the wealth than the former Pakistan cricketer.

According to a Forbes report, Virender Sehwag owns a wealth of nearly $40 million (approximately Rs 300 crore). Virender Sehwag gets his huge revenue through brand endorsements, TV commentary, cricket coaching, schools and paid promotions as a social media influencer.

According to Sportsshow, Sehwag earned Rs 41 crore in the year 2019. The Delhi-based cricketer runs a school named Sehwag International School in several parts of Haryana. On the other hand, Shoaib Akhtar has earned almost half than what Sehwag has earned. Akhtar’s net worth is reportedly around $23 million (Rs 163 crore).

Social media fan following:

When it comes to fan following on social media too, Sehwag is well ahead of the outspoken Pakistan legend. Akhtar enjoys 1.92 million subscribers on his YouTube channel while Sehwag doesn’t own a YouTube channel. Both the cricketers are, however, on Twitter. And while Akhtar has 2.7 million followers on Twitter, Sehwag has a following of above 20 million alone.
