From 137 to 166, Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) batter, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Dhruv Jurel needed only one over to rocket the run rate. The fast bowler of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Mayank Yadav, conceded 29 runs in the 12th over of the second innings of the 64th match of IPL 2026.
The batter duo of RR simply vandalized the LSG pacer. For the first three balls of the over, Mayank was up against Dhruv Jurel, who welcomed the pacer with a boundary followed by two consecutive sixes.
The pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel got 29 runs from one over with ease.
In the fourth ball of the over, the batters took a single, and the dangerous batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is arguably the best hitter in the format, dispatched the bowler for two more maximums in the remaining two deliveries.
Thus, with four 6s, one 4, and one single, Dhruv Jurel and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi claimed twenty-nine runs from a single over at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
RR batters were brilliant against the LSG bowlers
It is a must-win match for the Rajasthan Royals, and they are on the way to claiming the all-important two points from the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. Ahead of the match, RR's track record on their home ground, in Jaipur, was not something to relish. Additionally, for this do-or-die match, they missed the service of their skipper, Riyan Parag, and Ravindra Jadeja. Because of the injury, both of them missed tonight's game.
Without the two stars on the field, Rajasthan did extremely well with their batting work, chasing a massive target of 221 runs in 20 overs. On the batting-friendly surface at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, batters from both of the sides enjoyed their time, toying with the opposing team's bowlers.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the star of the match
In this match, there could be two centuries as well. In the first innings of the match, it was the Lucknow Super Giants opener Mitchell Marsh who missed his hundred by only 4 runs, and in the second innings, it was the RR opener, the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who missed his century by only 7 runs.
However, before heading back to the pavilion, the teen prodigy did his job well. That over against Mayank Yadav was a crucial point during the chase. From that over, LSG lost all of their remaining hopes to make a comeback.
