Former stylish Indian batsman VVS Laxman believes there should be some empathy shown to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. Both players were condemned for their statements that they had made on Koffee on Karan. However, Laxman believes that both of them have learned their lessons and we should show some respite for them.

Meanwhile, both of them have been suspended until the verdict of the enquiry. Moreover, the enquiry has now be delayed which is adding salt to the injury. Furthermore, both of them had to lose out on their contract with the illustrious brands.

You are influencing the next generation.

Laxman said as quoted by Hindu, “What they have spoken is wrong. They are getting the right punishment. But they are good human beings. You have to show some empathy for them.”

Laxman went on to add that these players should keep their feet to the ground. It is not always easy to handle money and fame with guile.

The former India batting legend said, “When they are 18, 19 or 20, these cricketers have ₹5 or ₹10 crore in their banks. It is easy to handle failures but tough to handle success. The role of mentorship is important here.”

Laxman said, “People are watching you. Without your knowledge, you are influencing the next generation of cricketers.”

On the other hand, VVS Laxman believes the education plays a big part. He had shared the dressing room with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid.

Laxman said, “We were all well educated, took great pride in wearing the India cap. And we had great role models as we grew up.”

Both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were immature in their statements. However, they have learned their lessons and it is crucial to bring back them as soon as possible. Both the players have realised their respective mistakes and they should be guided by BCCI.
