Shreyas Iyer Is Unbelievable As Captain: Kagiso Rabada

Delhi Capitals became the first team in IPL 2020 to virtually qualify in the playoffs. The capital franchise look like a rejuvenated side which is set to improve their performance from the previous season. Delhi Capitals had qualified for the playoffs for the first time in seven years last season.

There is a high chance of Delhi Capitals clinching their maiden IPL season this year. Shreyas Iyer has lead his young troop brilliantly under the coaching of the most successful Australian captain Ricky Ponting. It has also helped him learn early ropes of captaincy from the master himself.

Shreyas Iyer has been unbelievable as captain: Kagiso Rabada

Delhi Capitals’ bowling spearhead Kagiso Rabada said that Iyer has been unbelievable as a captain. He also added that Iyer is young for a captain when leading overseas players on a big stage as it is a big task he has done well thus far. The South African pace machine also added that Iyer is a chilled out guy but makes decision on the field as captain.

“Shreyas has been really unbelievable as a captain. He is young. For a captain, especially when you are leading an overseas player on a big stage, (it) is a huge task. So he has done really well so far. He is leading from the front,” Rabada said in a virtual press conference.

“Shreyas is just a normal guy who is chilled out and when we get on the field he is a captain who has to make decisions and I am sure Ricky (Ponting – the head coach) is helping him.

“Delhi has a very liberal environment and it is probably one of the reasons we have been successful,” he added.

Iyer has also had a good run with the bat as he has already smashed 335 runs with the bat.
