SL vs PAK: Sri Lanka 16-Member Squad For First Test vs Pakistan Announced

On Thursday, July 13, Sri Lanka National Cricket Team announced their 16-member squad for the first Test of the upcoming two-match Test series against the Pakistan National Cricket Team.

The first Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium between July 16-20 and the second Test is set to be played between July 24-28 at the Singhalese Sports Club, Colombo.

The young left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been included in the squad as Asitha Fernando is recovering from dengue fever and the youngster is line to make his Test debut against Pakistan.

He has performed brilliantly for Sri Lanka in the white-ball format. Also, he recently won the Player of the Match award in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier final against the Netherlands for his 3 wickets.

Dimuth Karunaratne To Captain Sri Lanka

Dimuth Karunaratne has been named as the captain of the side for the series against Pakistan. Notably, he had recently expressed his desire to quit the captaincy. However, it looks like he will continue as a skipper for a while.

Also, Nishan Madushka and Sadeera Samarawickrama have been named as two wicketkeeper-batters in the squad. Talking about the spin bowling department, it will be led by Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya as Lasith Embuldeniya has been dropped and Praveen Jayawickrama has replaced him in the squad.
