Harbhajan Singh, the veteran Indian National Cricket team spinner, admitted he still feels sorry about slapping S. Sreesanth during the first edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, the duo made headlines when Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth during a game between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. However, Harbhajan had apologised to Sreesanth in the KXIP dressing-room immediately after the incident.
Speaking about one thing he would like to rectify, Harbhajan Singh noted that he would want to change the fight with S Sreesanth, famously known as Slapgate.
“Whatever happened with Sreesanth.. me and him on the field… a lot of people talk about that incident now,” Harbhajan told Behindwoods Air. “If I have to go back and rectify something in my life, I would correct that. I shouldn’t have done that.
“That was a mistake and I am sorry about that. It shouldn’t have happened. Sreesanth is a top guy and he had so much of skill. My best wishes to Sreesanth and his wife and to their children. No matter what people say, I am still your brother,” Harbhajan said.
Sreesanth and Harbhajan went on to play the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 World Cup. Indian National Cricket team won both the tournaments.
S Sreesanth, meanwhile, is currently serving a lifetime ban for his alleged role in the spot-fixing scandal that rocked the Indian cricket in 2013. However, in July 2015, 36 accused named in the spot-fixing case, including Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila, were let-off by Patiala House court.
In addition to, BCCI even denied him the permission to play County Cricket. S Sreesanth recently appeared on a famous reality TV show.
