SA vs IND 2018: Sourav Ganguly Believes Yuzvendra Chahal Must add Variety to his Bowling

Since the conclusion of the ODI series, Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has had a torrid time in the two T20I’s. The South African batsmen have taken the attack to the Indian spinner.
He has given 103 runs in his eight overs and has picked up just one wicket.

Chahal was smashed for 64 runs from his four overs in the second T20 in Centurion. Heinrich Klaasen hit him for five sixes. Chahal conceded the most runs by an Indian bowler in a T20 International.

The right arm wrist spinner was instrumental in the ODI series as he picked up 16 wickets in six matches. However, this hammering that the leg-spinner faced in the T20 matches has landed him in an unfamiliar situation.
He is under the pump for the first time in his short international career.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Chahal must add more variety to his armory if he wants to play as a lone spinner.

Ganguly told India Today:
“Conditions made a bit tougher for Chahal. I think Virat Kohli needs to work a lot more with Chahal if he wants to play him as the lone spinner. He got clobbered in the last few games. He needs to add more variety to his bowling. A bit more flippers, a bit more sliders and not just toss it up all the time. Chahal will learn and at this level you will be under pressure at times. There will be games where you will get hit and Chahal needs to comeback. I think he is capable of doing that.”

Ganguly also said that he wants to see Kuldeep and Chahal bowl together once again:
“Hopefully we’ll have Kuldeep back and KulCha (Kuldeep and Chahal) can bowl together. They are a bit happy together when they are bowling and Cha gets a bid sad when Kul gets divorced from him. So, may be that could be an option if Kuldeep is fit in the final game in Cape Town,”
