The Prince of Kolkata believes it depends on the plans of the team management as well as the selectors. Dhoni is not getting any young and his performances with the bat have also been under the scanner. The right-hander’s strike rate has dropped substantially and many experts believe that Dhoni’s time is up. However, nobody knows what lays ahead apart from the man himself.

“To be honest, I don’t know. It depends on the way the team management thinks, the way the selectors think. Obviously, Dhoni is not young anymore, so this decision comes in everybody’s life at some stage or the other. So, we will have to wait and see for another three or four months to understand where it goes,” Ganguly told Sportstar in an interview.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant has also grabbed his opportunities with both hands, especially in the Test fold. Consequently, the think tank and the selectors are looking to throw him more chances.

“Obviously, Rishabh (Pant) is in. He plays well. (But in the end), it all depends on the mindset of the selectors and what they think. It’s about whether sthey want to look at the future. Only time will tell,” he added.

MS Dhoni has always taken decisions in the betterment of Indian cricket. Thus, if he would feel like that he is not contributing to the team in a way he should, he would not take a long time to call his time. The wicket-keeper batsman is not at the zenith of his prowess and it is understandable that he wants time to think about his future.
