South Africa’s stand-in skipper David Miller said he thought he was the worst captain on the planet in the fag end of the second T20I against Pakistan. The Proteas was able to win the second T20I by seven runs after David Miller led from the front. Furthermore, David Miller chalked up a blistering knock of 65 off just 29 balls laced with five fours and four boundaries.

Thus, Miller was able to take his team to a par score of 188 runs in the 20 overs. Miller is leading the Proteas as full-time skipper Faf du Plessis is rested. South Africa won the ODI series by 3-2 and now they have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in T20I series.

Miller played a blistering knock.

David Miller said while talking in the post-match presentation, “The guys at the back-end held their nerve well too which was amazing. I thought I was the worst captain on the planet – it was hard. The two openers were violent, but our bowlers did really well to pull things back. Really happy and chuffed that we didn’t leave it till the last game”.

On the other hand, David Miller praised the debutant Lutho Sipamla who gave away only 23 runs in his four overs quota. Furthermore, Tabraiz Shamsi bowled with great control and conceded only 31 runs in his allotted four overs.

David Miller added, “Yeah I’m very happy about that, it got tight in the end, but the guys pulled through and did incredibly well. It was enjoyable to finish the innings. The first two balls came off, and I just carried on in the last over. We started poorly with the ball, but credit to the bowlers for bringing us back into the game. We were a little too wide and short, but Shamsi brought the run-rate down and Sipamla was fantastic on debut”.

South Africa was able to turn the tables after Pakistan got off to a good start in their run-chase. Babar Azam stroked a brilliant knock of 90 runs from 58 balls whereas Hussain Talat scored a fine fifty. Both of them added 102 runs for the third wicket and kept Pakistan’s run-chase on the right path.

However, South African bowlers were able to bounce back in style as they picked wickets at regular intervals. The third and final T20I between South Africa and Pakistan will take place at SuperSport Park, Centurion on 6th February.
