The ongoing Pink Ball Test match between India and Bangladesh has witnessed a ”spirit of cricket” moment when the physio of the Indian National Cricket Team Nitin Patel attended Nayeem Hasan of Bangladesh, after being hit by a bouncer of Mohammed Shami. Earlier, Liton Das was retired hurt owing to the same issue.

It was during the post-lunch session on Day 1 when Nayeem Hasan was facing Mohammed Shami in the 23rd over of the innings. Shami bowled a well-directed bouncer to Nayeem Hasan, who had no answers rather than taking the blow. Immediately, the Indian players out there asked the Indian physio Nitin Patel to attend Nayeem Hasan of Bangladesh.

Coming to the match progress so far, it was the Indian team, who took the honours in the first session. They knocked down the top and middle-order batters of Bangladesh with the pink cherry doing the trick for Indian fast bowlers. Firstly, it was Ishant Sharma, who provided the breakthrough while Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami never let the momentum down.

After Ishant Sharma sent Imrul Kayes back to the hut, Umesh Yadav knocked out Shadman Islam and Mohammad Mithun to bring more joy to the Indian camp. Furthermore, Mohammed Shami brought down curtains on Mushfiqur Rahim to hurt Bangladesh further at Eden Gardens.

However, Liton Das looked brilliant in the middle, knocking runs with ease. Then came the bouncer from Mohammed Shami, which forced Liton Das to retire hurt while the rest of the batting lineup never looked comfortable in facing the Indian bowlers.
