Former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth is the latest cricketer to pick an all-time XI of a format. The current lockdown period where the sport has come to a standstill has enabled former and current players to name their best eleven players of any team in a format. On Thursday, S Sreesanth also joined the bandwagon as he picked his all-time ODI XI during a session at the Helo app.

The 37-year old began by choosing Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar as his openers. He selected Ganguly to lead the side, which was surprising, considering Sreesanth hadn’t played under him that much. Nevertheless, being one of the finest and aggressive skippers, it might have been a correct choice.

At number three, Sreesanth included Brian Lara, who is not only one of the most stylish batsmen but also has a truckload of runs. Current Indian captain Virat Kohli occupies the number four spot, which makes the top four one of the most prolific ones with all of them having over 10000 runs in ODIs.

Three South Africans in rest of Sreesanth’s eleven:

The Kerala speedster opted for Ab de Villiers, Yuvraj Singh, and MS Dhoni to occupy the next three places. All three can play according to the match situation and have the skills to change the complexion of the game drastically. The move to place Jacques Kallis at number eight is slightly debatable since the all-rounder has batted at the top for most of his career.

Sreesanth went on to pick Shane Warne as his sole spinner while choosing Glenn McGrath and Allan Donald as his specialist bowlers. The three bowlers snapped 946 ODI wickets during their career and were the potent bowlers for their sides. To conclude, the 37-year old named himself as the 12th man.

Sreesanth’s all-time best ODI XI: Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly (C), Brian Lara, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (WK), Jacques Kallis, Shane Warne, Allan Donald, Glenn McGrath.
