Sri Lanka’s mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya has been reported for suspected bowling action. Thus, the off-spinner will undergo a test in the coming 14 days. In fact, Akila Dananjaya is permitted to bowl during this time period until the results of the tests are known. Therefore, the talisman spinner would be able to bowl in the upcoming Test matches against England.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a Sri Lankan spinner is reported for suspected bowling action. Earlier, the legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan had also undergone tests to prove his action is legitimate.

Akila Danajaya will undergo a test.

On the other hand, Akila Dananjaya had scalped only two wickets in the first Test match against England. The off-spinner had looked toothless against the England batsmen. Meanwhile, in the absence of Rangana Herath who retired from the game, the onus is going to be on Akila Dananjaya and Dilruwan Perera.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s skipper Dinesh Chandimal is also ruled out for the next two weeks due to a groin injury which he suffered in the first Test. Thus, Sri Lanka has called in Charith Asalanka as the replacement for their captain.

England is leading by 1-0 in the three-match series after winning the first Test match by 211 runs. Ben Foakes was the star of the first Test match as the debutant scored a fine hundred to take the visitors to a par score.

The second Test match will take place at Pallekle from November 14. Thus, the hosts will aim to make a solid comeback into the series.

ICC took to their Twitter account to confirm the news. Their post read as, “Akila Dananjaya has been reported with a suspect bowling action. Dananjaya is required to undergo testing within 14 days and, during this period, he is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known”.
