Sri Lanka’s middle order batsman Kusal Perera is ruled of the ongoing five-match ODI series against England. The southpaw batsman has suffered a hamstring injury. Therefore, Kusal Mendis is added to the Sri Lanka ODI squad. Meanwhile, Kusal Perera had scored 30 runs in the second One-Dayer against England. However, the first ODI was washed out due to rain after 15 overs were bowled
England had won the second ODI by 31 runs (Duck Worth Lewis Method). Thus, the visitors are currently leading by 1-0 in the five-match series. The third ODI is scheduled to take place today. However, the toss is delayed due to rain. Hence, the rain has played the killjoy in this ongoing series.

Kusal Mendis added as cover.
Consequently, injury to Kusal Perera is a big blow to the Sri Lankan side as the left-hander has been in good form for the Island nation. On the other hand, Kusal Mendis isn’t in the best of forms in the recent past.
Therefore, it would be a good opportunity for the talented batsman to get back his Midas Touch. Sri Lanka has slipped down in the recent past and will have their work cut out against the number one ODI side, England.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Chandimal is currently leading the Sri Lankan side. Angelo Mathews was sacked after a poor performance of the team in the Asia Cup.
After the conclusion of the five-match ODI series, both the teams will square in a one-off T20I. Subsequently, there will be three Test matches between Sri Lanka and England. The first Test match will take place from 6th November.
