Reason for disconnection:
However, according to a Television Post report, Airtel Digital did not sign the subscription agreement. Also, they didn’t pay the subscription fees and did not submit the subscriber’s reports.

Meanwhile, Star India can deactivate the signals of its channels to Airtel Digital TV. Further, Star India has the right to disconnect only three weeks after issuing the notice.
“This is to inform the subscribers of Bharti Telemedia that signals of the Star India channels are likely to be disconnected on account of (a) non-signing of the subscription agreement, (b) non-payment of the subscription fees, and (c) non-submission of subscriber reports by the DTH operator,” Star said in a public notice.
However, this is not the first Star Media has issued a disconnection notice against a DTH operator. Previously, Star has also served notices on Tata Sky, a multi-system operator, and Siti Network. Notably, 21st Century Fox has 30% stakes in Tata Sky.

Also, Star India network has a bouquet of 69 channels in SD and HD in eight languages – including the Star Sports Network. On another hand, Airtel Digital TV has a customer base of around 13.9 million.
