Steve Smith, former Australian captain and the current leader of the Rajasthan Royals, is one of the most respected cricketers of the modern era.

Apart from being one of the leading batsmen of the modern-era, Smith has also achieved some amount of success during his stint as an Australian captain, the most prominent being the 2017-18 Ashes triumph.

But, who according to Steve Smith, is the best captain currently in world cricket. Smith was asked the same by his Rajasthan Royals teammate and England swashbuckler, Jos Buttler in a video posted by the Royals on their official social media accounts.

“Who is the best captain currently in world cricket?” Jos Buttler asked Steve Smith.

The former Australian skipper took his time before naming England’s World Cup-winning skipper and Kolkata Knight Riders player, Eoin Morgan as the best in the world currently.

Eoin Morgan has played a crucial role in England’s white-ball resurgence, one that eventually propelled them to World Cup glory last summer at the ‘Home of Cricket’- Lord’s. Morgan’s tactical acumen and his ability to instil confidence in his players have been widely hailed. The Ireland-born English captain is currently playing a key role in the Kolkata Knight Riders leadership group-headed by Dinesh Karthik and head coach, Brendon McCullum.

“Oh, tough question. I think Eoin Morgan maybe in one-day cricket,” Smith said. Obviously, he did very well for England. Hearing from you and Stokesy and stuff very well respected, great tactically on the field, and yeah I’ll go with him,” Smith told Jos Buttler.

Buttler responded with a tongue-in-cheek reply where he said- “Tough to say that for an Aussie though,” post which the Rajasthan Royals cricketer shared a good laugh.
