Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is one of the closest mates of MS Dhoni and has played with him for India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). As for the yellow army, the pair has been a pillar of success for the franchise. Suresh Raina, who will once again team up with MS Dhoni in the upcoming season of the IPL, has opened up on his abilities despite age not being on his side. The 13th season of the IPL kickstarts from the 19th of September.

MS Dhoni has not donned the Indian jersey since the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup in July. He scored a battling fifty before a brilliant throw from Martin Guptill ran him out and crushed India’s hopes of making it to the final. With no competitive cricket in more than a year and at 39 years of age, inevitably, the keeper-batsman might not be in the best of his abilities.

Ahead of the IPL 2020, whose initial date was of the 29th of March, the veteran cricketer engaged himself in practice sessions. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed to the 15th of April and deferred indefinitely after that.

The postponement of the T20 World Cup in Australia allowed the BCCI to conduct the IPL in UAE. MS Dhoni’s performances in the extravaganza can decide whether he would make a comeback to the Indian team.

According to Suresh Raina, age does not matter in case of MS Dhoni. The 33-year old labelled the 39-year old as a natural athlete and a powerful striker of the ball. Raina further said that MS Dhoni plans carefully ahead of his assignments with passion and stated confidently that he would be their driving force.

Age does matter but with Dhoni it’s different. He is a natural athlete and I know what his power is. You can’t hit a six when the ball is coming at 140-150 kmph without such fitness. He has that tough approach to his game and does everything with passion and supreme planning. He will always be our driving force,” the southpaw stated as quoted by Times of India.
