With media reports suggesting that Suresh Raina was not recalled in the Indian team after failing the Yo Yo endurance test, the Indian discard refused to comment on the much-talked about topic and just said: “Speak to BCCI.”

The left-handed batsman, who has not played in One-Day Internationals since October 2015, has fallen out of favour with the national selectors.

He was recalled for the ODI series against New Zealand last year but did not play a single game due to illness. However, a recall for the T20 series against England earlier this year gave him a glimmer of hope and he fully capitalized on it by finishing the three-match series as its third highest run-scorer with 104 runs. A few months later, he proved his worth with yet another impressive IPL season, scoring 442 runs in 14 matches which led to his inclusion in the standby list for the Champions Trophy.

However, he was ignored for the Sri Lanka series with the reports suggesting that he along with veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh failed the fitness test which has now been made mandatory before getting into the national team.

Raina further said that he is working hard on improving his fitness and game.

“I am working hard. There is nothing tough in life if you enjoy your process and enjoy your cricket and I have always done that. When I got injured, that was a difficult time of my life. So, it (being out of Indian team) is nothing and I am enjoying it and the things will come in my time,” he said on the sidelines of Sketchers Performance Goa River Marathon launch.

The southpaw also credited Anil Kumble for India’s latest spin sensation Kuldeep Yadav‘s rapid rise in international cricket. The chinaman made his international debut against Australia in Dharamsala Test when Kumble was the coach and has not looked back since then.

“Kuldeep is doing very well and the credit goes to Anil Bhai (Anil Kumble). He worked really hard with him (Kuldeep). I was talking to Kuldeep in the IPL. He always used to message Anil Bhai. He is the product of Anil Kumble,” Raina said.
