Out-of-favour India batsman Suresh Raina has lashed out at selectors, saying that they need to take more responsibility towards the senior players. The left-handed batsman was an integral part of India’s limited-overs team not very long ago.But it is safe to say that his international career is pretty much off the track now.

In the last few three years, the southpaw has got just a handful of chances. He last played for India during the tour of England in 2018. Suresh Raina was making a comeback to international cricket through that tour only but was dropped straightaway after India returned from England as he failed to make chances count.

Since then, he has not been tried even once although India were desperately waiting for a reliable batsmen in the middle-order for last year’s World Cup. It won’t be very surprising if Suresh Raina does not earn another recall anytime soon. He is well out of the picture now as the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant, Kedar Jadhav form India’s middle-order now.

And with chances of him returning to the Indian team looking very slim now, Suresh Raina has criticised the selectors. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Suresh Raina said he was never informed why he was dropped despite passing Yo Yo Test and performing well in the chances he got.

“I think selectors should have taken more responsibility towards the senior players. No matter how big a player you are at the end of the day you always play for the team, you perform, you go home and if you don’t get to play the next morning, then you have to know the reason why I am not getting batting on the net,” said Suresh Raina.

“Tell me if I have any deficiency then I will work hard. Someone will have to tell where to work hard. If he does not know, then there will be a doubt in his mind somewhere. When the cause is not known, how he will improve,” he added.
