'Suryakumar Yadav Put Him In His Place': Virat Kohli Slammed For Sledging MI Batsman
Updated - 29 Oct 2020, 01:25 AM
Nothing went Virat Kohli’s way on Wednesday as Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat too, scoring just 9 off 14 balls as RCB suffered their second successive defeat.
Asked to bat first, RCB posted 164 for 5 in the stipulated 20 overs. At 129 for 2 after 15 overs, the Bangalore-based was looking set to score more than 180. However, they could only manage 35 runs in the final five overs while losing five wickets.
Devdutt Padikkal was the top-scorer with the bat, scoring 74 off 45 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six. He also added 71 runs with Josh Philippe for the first wicket to give RCB a solid start before the middle-order batsmen failed to deliver. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for MI, taking 3 for just 14 off his four overs.
In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the total with five balls to spare. In-form Suryakumar Yadav made the difference with the bat. He held firm from one end and played an unbeaten knock of 79 off just 43 balls to power the defending champions to an impressive win.
Virat Kohli slammed by fans:
As if the defeat and the failure with the bat were not enough, Virat Kohli is being also slammed by the fans for his on-field behaviour during the game. The RCB skipper is facing the heat for the incident that took place in the 13th over of MI’s innings when he tried to get under the skin of Suryakumar Yadav.
After fielding a shot from Suryakumar at covers, Virat Kohli started walking towards the MI batsman. The RCB stalwart was staring straight at Suryakumar as he tried to unsettle the batsman. Suryakumar also stared at Virat Kohli before the latter came and stood right beside the batsman.
The drama eventually ended when Suryakumar decided to walk away without saying anything to Kohli. The fans, nonetheless, are not at all pleased with Kohli’s behaviour and took to Twitter to slam him for the same. Some also praised the Mumbai batsman for ‘putting Kohli in his place’.
Here are some of the reactions:
Massive respect for Suryakumar Yadav who let his bat do the talking against the abusive RCB team. Virat Kohli may have been one of the many greats in the cricket today, but he lacks class and sadly, his team is following in his footsteps.

Kohli came to sledge SuryaKumar Yadav during the break and Surya left like a gentleman. This shows how desperate Virat is to win this IPL. Didn’t expect this from a player like Virat Kohli.#MumbaiIndians#MIvsRCB @imVkohli @cricketaakash @surya_14kumar @vikrantgupta73 pic.twitter.com/VCwSNyKemD

“There has been needle between Kohli and Yadav all night. And he has taken them home without losing his cool. And doesn’t get too excited after finishing this off. He is like I am cool, I have not surprised myself with this” Suryakumar answers with his bat.

Kohli’s arrogance always gets overshadowed by his performances But to do it against an Indian cricketer should never be accepted. Brilliant how Suryakumar Yadav put him in his place!!! #MIvsRCB @mipaltan @imVkohli @surya_14kumar

Suryakumar Yadav staring dead in the eyes of Kohli who was trying to sledge him, and then winning the game was so satisfying to see. Tight slap for the selectors and Kohli.

Suryakumar Yadav staring down Kohli while toying with his best bowler (Chahal) has to be one of the chaddest moments of the tournament. ???#MIvsRCB pic.twitter.com/3jNuVJTOQ3

I absolutely loved it that Suryakumar Yadav destroyed Kohli tonight.

Kohli is one of the worst when it comes to on field behavior. You would never see an uncapped player being taken on the way this idiot did. Suryakumar came out looking better
