Nothing went Virat Kohli’s way on Wednesday as Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat too, scoring just 9 off 14 balls as RCB suffered their second successive defeat.

Asked to bat first, RCB posted 164 for 5 in the stipulated 20 overs. At 129 for 2 after 15 overs, the Bangalore-based was looking set to score more than 180. However, they could only manage 35 runs in the final five overs while losing five wickets.

Devdutt Padikkal was the top-scorer with the bat, scoring 74 off 45 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six. He also added 71 runs with Josh Philippe for the first wicket to give RCB a solid start before the middle-order batsmen failed to deliver. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for MI, taking 3 for just 14 off his four overs.

In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the total with five balls to spare. In-form Suryakumar Yadav made the difference with the bat. He held firm from one end and played an unbeaten knock of 79 off just 43 balls to power the defending champions to an impressive win.

Virat Kohli slammed by fans:

As if the defeat and the failure with the bat were not enough, Virat Kohli is being also slammed by the fans for his on-field behaviour during the game. The RCB skipper is facing the heat for the incident that took place in the 13th over of MI’s innings when he tried to get under the skin of Suryakumar Yadav.

After fielding a shot from Suryakumar at covers, Virat Kohli started walking towards the MI batsman. The RCB stalwart was staring straight at Suryakumar as he tried to unsettle the batsman. Suryakumar also stared at Virat Kohli before the latter came and stood right beside the batsman.

The drama eventually ended when Suryakumar decided to walk away without saying anything to Kohli. The fans, nonetheless, are not at all pleased with Kohli’s behaviour and took to Twitter to slam him for the same. Some also praised the Mumbai batsman for ‘putting Kohli in his place’.
