Baroda has not included Yusuf Pathan in the T20 squad for the Super League of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017/18. Pathan was available for selection in the team, as his ban ended on January 15.

Pathan was banned for five months by BCCI for failing a dope test. However, BCCI was satisfied with his response and did not take strong action. His ban period started in August and ended on January 15. He though played two Rani Trophy games in October, but the records of that match will be rubbed off.

Pathan was not selected in the side for league phase, as BCCI had asked Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) not to pick him. There were hopes that he might get recalled to the side for the Super League, but selectors didn’t select him.

Going into the IPL auction, he has set his base price Rs 75 Lakhs. He is expected to be picked up by a franchise due to his T20 credentials.

Baroda Irfan Pathan NOC

Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan has been issued a NOC by Baroda Cricket Association. Irfan had asked for a NOC after he was not picked up by the selectors for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was appointed, as the captain of the side for the season but surprisingly, he was dropped as captain and was replaced by Deepak Hooda.

He (Deepak Hooda) will continue to lead the team in the Super League as well. There is one more change in the team as an injured Swapnil Singh made way for Smit Ghosh.

It will be interesting to see who will lead Baroda team in Vijay Hazare Trophy if Hooda retains his place in the T20I side for the tour of South Africa.

Baroda will be facing Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in the Super League of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017/18.
