Uttar Pradesh registered first win of the season against Railways when they defeated them by a margin of seven wickets with two overs remaining.

After winning the toss, Suresh Raina decided that his team would field first. UP bowlers provided a dream start to the team and Railways were two down for just 12 runs.

The Mahesh Rawat led side continued to lose wickets on a regular basis and somehow managed a score of 132/8. Skipper, Mahesh Rawat, was the highest score for his side as he scored 35 runs at run a ball.

For Uttar Pradesh, Ankit Rajpoot shone with the ball and scalped three wickets for 30 runs. He was well aided by Mohsin Khan and Saurabh Kumar, who scalped two wickets each.

In the chase to this total. UP had a poor start as they lost an early wicket of Umang Sharma. Post his dismissal, Suresh Raina entered the field to partner Shivam Chaudhary.

Both of them shared 53 runs for the second wicket, out of which 26 runs came out off Raina’s bat. His 26 runs came out of the same number of deliveries, and Raina’s knock includes two fours.

Shivam Chaudhary (40) and Rinku Singh (37*) played crucial innings to help UP chase down the total.

This was their first win in the third contest.

Raina, though, again seemed to be a bit rusty as he played 26 off 26 and his innings included just two fours. Raina has been in struggling form this season and has the challenge to get back his lost form before IPL.

Post the completion of the T20 league, Raina will have another chance to find form when he plays and lead Uttar Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Brief scores: Uttar Pradesh 134/3 (Shivam Chaudhary 40, Rinku Singh 37*; Abhishek Sharma 2-25) defeat Railways 132/8 (Mahesh Raw35, Ashish Yadav 32; Ankit Rajpoot 3-30) by seven wickets.
