He can ball consistent yorkers, T Natarajan, made a name for himself with his prolific performance for SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020. His performance helped him book a place in the flight to Australia as net bowler before being named in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad.

Fast bowler T Natrajan was named in the squad after mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who impressed for Kolkata Knight Riders, was ruled out because of a shoulder injury. Natarajan believes the birth of his daughter came as a blessing for him after he broke into the national team squad.

My daughter’s birth has proven very lucky for me: T Natarajan

“My daughter’s birth has proven very lucky for me. I was selected only as a net bowler but am drafted in the main squad now. There can’t be better news than this,” he said over the telephone from his Dubai hotel room, where he went from IPL bubble to the BCCI bubble.

“I am yet to have a photograph of my daughter. Could only see her on the video call. My wife is still in the hospital and is scheduled to return home in a day or two,” he added.

The year 2020 has been full of uncertainties as tragedies hit the world alike with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic. However with out of very few positives to pick up from IPL has been a success story this year. And the result for the cricket board and official broadcasters came after a patient wait.

IPL 2020 was originally slated to get underway in March. But it was later deferred from its original date before being postponed indefinitely. The final decision on IPL being moved to UAE came after the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia was postponed which allowed the lucrative tournament to take up the slot.
