The Indian team played two matches – the 3rd ODI and the first T20I – in Canberra and won both of them. While the players did play well than that in the first couple of ODIs, it could be the delicious food they ate while their stay in Canberra did some magic. The food they were served while their stay in the hotel has been revealed.

Virat Kohli’s men feasted on the Kerala-style cabbage stir fry, potato mezhukkupuratti, and lentil curry. According to a report by OnManorama, a Malayali chef by the name of Thomas Eso cooked the meals for the men in blue. Thomas is from Ayiroor in the Pathanamthitta district in the state of Kerala. He has been cooking for team India since they arrived in Canberra for the third ODI.

Thomas has worked in a couple of five-star hotels in the US and Dubai before moving to Australia about 15 years ago. He has also cooked for the Indian women’s cricket team a couple of years back. The report added that the players were served with a variety of fruits and snacks during practice sessions and matchdays by Thomas.

Speaking to the publication, Thomas said, ” I am happy that team India could win both their matches in Canberra. All players and supporting staff offered words of appreciation for my service. Coach Ravi Shastri said that his food had a homely feel about it. I will hold those words close to my heart.”

Thomas revealed that pacer, T Natarajan came into the kitchen to meet him after catching the aroma of the food. Natarajan later brought Sanju Samson, who hails from Kerala to have a chat with him. Other players and staff as well came to meet the chef.
