Jasprit Bumrah is all set to resume his action on the cricket field after taking a much-deserved rest. The Indian selectors selected the pacer for the T20I and the ODI series in West Indies. Jasprit Bumrah, however, is a part of the upcoming Test series against the Caribbean outfit. Bumrah was one of India’s most impressive performers in the World Cup.

The right-arm pacer will be looking to hit the ground running in West Indies. He was an absolute revelation for India after making his Test debut. Bumrah finished 2018 as the highest wicket-taker across all formats in the calendar year. The fast bowler took 78 wickets in this year. Bumrah took 48 wickets in 9 Tests, 22 wickets in 13 ODIs and 8 wickets in 8 T20I matches.

The India star was pivotal in India’s historic Test triumph in Australia this month. India beat Australia 2-1 to register their first Test series win on the Australian soil. He ended the series as the joint highest wicket-taker along with Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon. Bumrah picked up an impressive 21 wickets. including a career-best 6 for 33 in the Melbourne Test.

India will be hoping for a similar performance from their star man in the Caribbeans. Bumrah, nonetheless, will also have the blessings of his sister as he celebrated Raksha Bandhan two days earlier because of “Team India duties”.

Bumrah took to Twitter to say that he had to celebrate the festival early because of his cricket commitment.

“Team India duties means I won’t be here for Raksha Bandhan but I just couldn’t miss out on celebrating with you, Juhika. Thank you for always being there for me,” Jasprit Bumrah wrote on Twitter.

The two-match Test series will get underway on August 22. The series will kickstart the World Test Championship campaign for both the teams. India, meanwhile, have already won the T20I series and have taken an unassailable lead in the three-match ODI series.
