West Indies made a resounding comeback to level the series 1-1 with one match still to go. They defeated India by eight wickets at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram to take the series to the final game. Speaking at the end of the game, Caribbeans skipper Kieron Pollard said he is proud of his boys who executed the plans to perfection.

Batting first, Indian batsmen struggled to get going on a double-paced wicket in Thiruvananthapuram. KL Rahul, who scored a fine half-century in the last match, and Rohit Sharma departed early trying to play shots in a bid to score quick runs. Virat Kohli too followed suit quickly after getting set, but the plan to send rookie Shivam Dube at the top paid off with the young all-rounder bringing his first half-century in international cricket. He, along with Rishabh Pant, posted a competitive total on the scoreboard.

“These things happen. Different circumstances have contributed to where we are (on the ICC table). Can’t control the past. Guys came back very well in the field. The way we batted – the guys executed perfectly. Very excited for some of the guys who’ve come out of the CPL doing well. Some of those senior guys will be back, but excited for these guys. Kesrick bouncing back after the last game was fantastic,” Pollard said at the end of the match.

“Continuing to enjoy my cricket. Can pass on the knowledge to these guys. Pride myself on being a leader. Every time I come on the cricket field, try to enjoy. Thing for us is to keep calm. There are areas to improve on. The wides, the no-balls,” Pollard concluded.
