There Is Absolute Clarity On MS Dhoni: Sourav Ganguly

A lot has been said and heard on the future of former India skipper MS Dhoni’s future but there is little clarity over it. But unlike the rest of the country, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has insisted that there is no complexity as far as MS Dhoni’s future with Team India is concerned. He also said that there is ample time to answer the questions surrounding the veteran’s future.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has not played a competitive game since the World Cup semifinal in July and there is still no clarity over when would he return to action. The focus was firmly on him after the World Cup ended and MS Dhoni decided to take a sabbatical from the game. It was expected he would return to action at the start of the home season.

However, MS Dhoni decided against it and is yet to confirm the dates for his return. Consequently, he has already missed the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh and is also not a part of the ODI and the T20I teams for the upcoming series against West Indies next month. He recently told the journalists not to ask him about his future until January.

As far as selectors are concerned, chairman of selection panel MSK Prasad has already made it clear that the selectors are moving on from Dhoni. Prasad made it clear that the selectors would now try out youngsters and have backed Rishabh Pant since then.

Sourav Ganguly on MS Dhoni:

As the cricketing world continue to talk about MS Dhoni’s future, Sourav Ganguly has said that there is ample time to decide the 38-year old’s future. Ganguly was responding to India head coach Ravi Shastri’s remark on Dhoni where he said that IPL 2020 could decide the veteran’s future. Ganguly also said that clarity exists on Dhoni’s future with India and things will unfold in the near future soon.

“We will see what happens, there’s enough time. Of course it will get clear (within three months),” Ganguly told PTI.

“No no, there is clarity, but certain things cannot be said on public platform. There is absolute clarity on MS Dhoni and you’ll find out in time.

“There’s transparency between the Board, MS and the selectors. When you deal with such champions — MS Dhoni is an unbelievable athlete for India — certain things have to be kept within the closed doors. It’s very transparent and everybody knows where they stand,” he added.
