The last few days in the Indian women cricket haven’t been that great. Something or the other issue has hit the headlines more often than not. The latest controversy has been the exclusion of Mithali Raj from the playing XI during the semifinal of the ICC T20I Women World Cup. For the same reason, Ramesh Powar failed to get the extension in his role.
Mithali Raj, in her email to the respective board, quoted the ex-head coach Ramesh Powar ill-treated her. She said the head coach and the management played politics in ignoring her for the crucial clash of the tournament.
I haven’t closed any communication channels with Mithali Raj – Ramesh Powar
Ramesh Powar quoted that he is pretty much in talking terms with the team members. Further, he added he hasn’t closed his communication with the senior player in the side, Mithali Raj, despite the recent controversy.

Powar also quoted that he has done well in his role for the Indian national cricket team. He believes the success rate of the team has increased under his watchful eyes.
“I haven’t closed any communication channels with Mithali,” he said. “For that matter, I am on speaking terms with all members of the team, including Ekta (Bisht), Mansi (Joshi) or even the youngest member of the side Jemimah (Rodrigues). There is absolutely no bad blood for Mithali from my side.

“We made a lot of progress with this team ever since I took over. Winning series of Australia A, Australia, topping the group in women’s World T20 and then reaching the semifinals for the first time in eight years — those are results to be proud of.”
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Ramesh Powar. The selection of head coach will be done on December 20th by a special three-member committee headed by Kapil Dev.
