Harbhajan Singh has backed an under-scanner Indian team for their abysmal show in the first two Test matches of the series against South Africa as the off-spinner has said that this is a learning curve for the team and they will do well in future,
“Everybody wants to improve. Let’s support the team in this hour. We have not played as well as we would have expected. Maybe next time. This is a great learning curve. Hopefully we will bounce back strongly. They need to back each other,” he told PTI.
Indian cricket team was quite confident before the start of the series and in fact, Head Coach, Ravi Shastri, had also called this tour as best opportunity for the Indian team to win a series in South Africa but the team failed to deliver the results.
The Virat Kohli led side has already lost the first two Tests to lose the series. In both the games, bowlers have done their job on the pitches that have supported them, but the batsmen have let the team down. In the first game, team India was chasing a mere total of 208, but the team failed to do the job and was bundled out on 135.
In the second game, the target was 287, and again, South Africa went away with a win and Freedom Trophy as well. Looking at the current form and surprising decisions which have been taken till now, there are hardly any chances of this side making a comeback in the series. In the limited overs series though, one can expect a turnaround.
Talking of Harbhajan Singh, he has landed in Kolkata along with the Punjab team to play the Super League of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017/18. Punjab won three out of five league stage games played at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
It was only after Delhi defeated Services in the last tie of North Zone league that Punjab were able to make it to the next stage as if Delhi would have lost that game, then it would have been Services who would have played the Super League.
Punjab will face Karnataka, Mumbai, Jharkhand and Rajasthan in the Sper League games of the T20 tournament.
