Former India opener Virender Sehwag, on Saturday, said he felt sad for Chennai Super Kings fans after the three-time champions lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The defeat was the fifth defeat for CSK in seven games and has all but sealed their fate in the ongoing season.
The MS Dhoni-led side will have to stage a big turnaround in the second half of the competition or CSK’s impressive record of making it to the playoffs stage in every season of IPL till date is looking likely to come to an end. It was yet another horrific batting display from the Chennai-based outfit.

Chasing 170, CSK finished their innings on 132 for 8. Right from the start of their innings, they never really looked in contention to chase down the total. They could only manage 26 runs in the powerplay while losing both of their openers – Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson.
Ambati Rayudu and debutant N Jagadeesan steadied the ship by adding 64 runs for the third wicket but failed to accelerate the run-rate as the parternship came off 52 balls. By the time MS Dhoni came to the crease in the 15th over, the game was already looking as good as over.

The CSK skipper could not do much either as he fell for 10 before the lower-order failed too. And soon after the game ended, Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to sympathize with the CSK fans before criticising the CSK batsmen. He also had a word of praise for Virat Kohli who scored an unbeaten 90.
“Feel sad for Chennai fans. This was a team that fought & teams used to be wary till the end. Have been very disappointing especially with d bat, leaving it for too late. Kohli was extra special today. Many batsmen can learn how to not get bogged down, played only 5 dots,” wrote Virender Sehwag.
