Three Indian Batsmen Who Have Not Hit A Single 50 In T20 Internationals

In the current scenario, most cricket fans love to watch the T20 format. The fact that there’s a lot hard-hitting in T20Is makes it a lot more interesting than ODIs and Tests. Also, the match can change its course very quickly in this format, one moment your team is winning, and a couple of overs later they could very well lose the game.
All these thrills make the shortest format of the sport, a fan favourite. This is why there are T20 leagues booming across the whole globe. Since in inception of T20, batsmen have become more fearless, as scoring runs is imperative in this format.
This fearless approach, in turn, reflects on their game in other formats as well. However, there are some Indian batsmen who have played more than 30 T20 games and have failed to score a single half-century.
Here, is a list of the three Indian batsmen who haven’t scored 50 runs even once in International T20 games:
Hardik Pandya
Widely renowned as a hard-hitting middle-order batsman, Hardik Pandya features on this list, despite his exploits with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He belongs to a rare breed of explosive Indian batsmen, while he has helped team India finish off many games, the 26-year-old hasn’t scored a single half-century for the national team in international T20 matches. Hardik made his debut in the shortest format against Australia in 2016.
Since then, the right-handed all-rounder has amassed 40 caps in which he has scored 310 runs, at an average of 16.31. Moreover, another surprising fact is that Hardik’s highest score in T2o is 33*. Currently, he’s out injured and should be back for team India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2020, to be held in Australia from October.
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja has been everpresent for the Indian team in all three formats for the past few years. However, the surprising fact here is that despite this, Jadeja has never been able to score a fifty for team India in T20 international matches.
The 31-year-old made his debut in this format in February 2009, against Sri Lanka. Since then, he has represented India in 49 T20 matches, having played 23 innings in these games. In those 23 innings, the left-handed all-rounder has scored just 173 runs with the bat, at an average of 12.35.
Jadeja’s highest score in T20 for India is 25 runs, which is not at all impressive. The Indian batsmen will have a crucial role to play if they hope to win the T20 World 2020 and to achieve that, everyone will count on Jadeja, but he will surely have to fare better.
Dinesh Karthik
There was a time when Dinesh Karthik was heralded as India’s go-to man behind the stumps. He failed to justify those claims and even struggled to get into the playing XI due to the presence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. That is the reason he features on this list because he hasn’t had a consistent run with the Indian team.
Karthik made his debut for the Men in Blue in T20 in December 2006 against South Africa. In his career so far, he has played just 32 matches in national colours, scoring 399 runs at an average of 33.25 along with a strike rate of 145.
While the numbers are surely impressive, the 34-year-old highest score stands at 48 runs, which came way back in 2017, against the West Indies. With Dhoni’s future in doubt, Karthik will try to have a good IPL so that he remains in contention for team India’s T20 World Cup squad.
