D Raghavindraa – known as Raghu – the throwdown specialist of the Indian team, will join the team after completing his quarantine period in Australia. Raghu didn’t fly to UAE to join other members of Team India to fly Australia from UAE  as he was tested positive for covid-19 in India.

Australia will host India for a full-fledged tour. The limited-overs leg commences on 27th November with 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The high-intensity Border-Gavaskar Test series will begin on 17th December with a pink-ball day-night Test in Adelaide followed by the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, New Year’s Test in Sydney, and the last Test match in Australia’s fortress, Brisbane.

Raghu could not join the squad in UAE after testing positive:

Raghu has been a highly appreciated member of the Indian team support staff. He has been with the team since 2011 as an attender. He was the training assistant on the 2014 England tour, and then he became the throwdown specialist owing to his strong arm.

The Indian team and all the staff members were together in isolation in the UAE, where the IPL took place, and then flew to Sydney. However, Raghu could not join the team in the UAE as he was tested positive for the coronavirus and had to be in quarantine in India. After having tested negative in India, he flew to Australia directly where, according to the Australian protocols he has to be in isolation.

Now, Raghu is about to complete his quarantine period in Australia and is set to join the Indian squad. Raghu is a knowledgeable person and was part of the team which won the Test series in Australia in 2018-19. He gives practice to the batters and prepares them for the short and pacy bowling they are going to face.

A source was quoted by ANI as saying, “The team came in from UAE after the IPL and it was a movement from one bubble to another so they could start training as soon as they returned negative coronavirus test results. But Raghu could not join the squad in UAE after testing positive and so had to complete his quarantine period in India and then fly in directly to Australia.

“As a result, he had to follow the complete quarantine rules here in Australia. But he is set to rejoin the squad after he ends the quarantine period and that is definitely great news for the boys going into such an important series,” the source added.
