New Zealand’s interim ODI captain Tom Latham isn’t happy with how the Kiwi bowlers even after the victory in the first ODI in Hamilton. New Zealand beat India by four wickets in the first ODI at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Ross Taylor played a match-defining knock and helped the Kiwis cross the finishing line. Taylor bagged the Man of the Match award for his scintillating century which eventually saw hosts chasing the target of 348 in 48.1 overs.
However, even after the victory, captain Latham isn’t happy with the Black Caps’ bowlers. Latham has made it clear that the Kiwi bowlers gave away way too much.
Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first. But, the decision backfired when the first innings came to a close as India put a giant total of 347 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Tom Latham Unhappy With The Kiwi Bowlers:
Speaking in the post-match ceremony, Latham said, “The total was a little more than what we would have liked to chase. But we managed to get off to a good start and keep wickets in hand. We saw how hard it was to defend with the left-right combination. It’s nice to make winning contributions. The way Ross played was fantastic. We weren’t quite where we wanted to be with the ball. So we got to improve and hopefully, we will play the perfect game at Eden Park.”

Meanwhile, New Zealand clinched the first victory of the India series. Batting first, India posted a mammoth total of 347/5 in their 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden ODI century in the first innings for the Men in Blue.
Captain Kohli and KL Rahul came up with blistering half-centuries to help India finish the first innings on a high.
Chasing a total of 348 runs, openers Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls stitched a beautiful partnership of 85 runs for the first wicket.
Later, Captain Tom Latham and Ross Taylor carried the innings forward. Taylor scored his 21st ODI Century to help the Black Caps win the ODI opener. The second ODI of the series will now take place on February 08 at Auckland.
Meanwhile, India will have to win the second game at all costs in order to be in the contention to win the three-match series.
