The fitness level in the modern game has increased by manifold. As the players are required to play in all the three forms of the game, it is imperative that they maintain a good level of fitness. We have seen that the players like Virat Kohli has revolutionised the fitness level in the game and he has also motivated his teammates to work harder in the gym.

Meanwhile, there are still some players who are not at the top of their fitness and they have to be hidden in the field by their captain. These players are not the fastest movers and they can concede extra runs in the field.

We take a look at ten cricketers who are the laziest in cricket.

1. Kuldeep Yadav

India’s spinner Kuldeep Yadav the best of fielders in the team. Yadav isn’t the swiftest movers for the Indian team and he can be sloppy in the field. Thus, the southpaw spinner needs to work on his fitness to match the work of his teammates.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav has done a great job with the ball. Yadav has taken massive strides since he has made his debut for the Indian team. The left-arm spinner has the skills to trouble the opposition batsmen with his variations.

2. Mohammad Shahzad

Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad is not at the top of his fitness. In fact, there is no doubt that Shahzad needs to shed off some weight to have success at the International level. However, the right-handed batsman has impressed with his pyrotechnics and he likes to deal runs in boundaries.

The right-hander is Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper and thus it is pivotal that he maintains his fitness level. It is not an easy job to keep the wickets and Shahzad fitness is not up to the mark.

3. Chris Gayle

West Indies veteran batsman Chris Gayle is one of the most destructive batsmen in the modern game. However, Gayle hardly likes to run between the wickets and believes more in hitting boundaries and sixes. In fact, it is seen on most of the occasions that Gayle strolls between the wickets. Furthermore, the experienced campaigner can be casual in the field.

Gayle is 39 years old and he is not at the top of his fitness. Hence, the Universe Boss is a slow mover in the field and his fielding can be a disadvantage in the modern game. Gayle has announced that the upcoming series against India will be his last in his career.

4. Sarfaraz Ahmed

Pakistan’s skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was brutally trolled when his yawning photo had gone viral on the social media during the World Cup. In fact, the wicketkeeper-batsman is not the fastest movers for Pakistan and his fitness is not up to the mark.

Ahmed has done a decent job for Pakistan but the team could not make their way into the last four of the World Cup. The right-hander will like to lose some weight as he can be slow to move in between the wickets.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was always a strong contender for a run-out when he was at the crease. Inzamam was a fantastic batsman but his fitness level was poor. The right-hander would take a lot of time to move between the wickets and his fitness level was not up to the mark.

The talisman right-hander played some brilliant knocks for Pakistan and he is regarded as one of the best batsmen for the Men in Green.

6. Thisara Perera

Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Thisara Perera is not at the top of his fitness level and he would like to lose some weight. Perera is a hard-hitter of the ball and generally likes to get most of his runs in boundaries. The all-rounder is not the best of fielders in the Sri Lankan camp and he generally needs to be hidden by the captain.

Perera would aim to come back stronger in the field as he can be sloppy with his fielding efforts.

7. Munaf Patel

Former Indian fast bowler Munaf Patel was not at all a good mover in the field. Patel would often misfield in the outfield and thus he was sloppy in the field. The Gujarat seamer would struggle to pick up the ball in a single attempt and his fitness level was not up to the required standard of the International cricket.

Meanwhile, Munaf Patel was part of India’s World Cup-winning campaign in 2011. Patel played a key role as he was able to get crucial breakthroughs for the team.

8. Dwayne Leverock

Bermuda’s Dwayne Leverock was one of the heaviest cricketers of all time. In fact, he was also named as Sluggo. Surprisingly, Leverock had served as a police officer in Bermuda.

On the other hand, Leverock is well known for his staggering catch of Robin Uthappa in the 2007 World Cup. Leverock had dived full length to his right and had plucked one of the best slip catches in the game.

9. Kedar Jadhav

India’s all-rounder Kedar Jadhav can be really casual in the field. Jadhav is not the fastest of the movers and he can be late in moving towards the ball. In fact, Jadhav has misfielded on many occasions for the Indian team.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra player has done a good job with both bat as well as the ball for the Indian team. Jadhav has been a partnership breaker for the team and he has also provided the finishing touches to the innings.

10. Yusuf Pathan

India’s all-rounder Yusuf Pathan is not the best of fielders in the world. Pathan can be a slow mover in the field and he needs to work on his fitness. The right-handed batsman can be explosive with the bat and can provide quick runs. Furthermore, he can chip in with his off-spinners.

Yusuf Pathan has savoured great in the Indian Premier League in the initial season of the league.
