The game has come a long way in the last decade. We see a lot more sixes as compared to earlier times. The bats have got better with time and the new rules are tilted in favour of the batters. Thus, we witness a plethora of shots clearing the boundary. In fact, there is some world class batsman who has the skills to clear the ropes with ease.
The likes of MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle are clean strikers of the ball and once they time the ball with perfection, it stays hit. In fact, we have seen that the ball has even cleared the stadium on many occasions.
Here are the longest sixes in International cricket:
10. MS Dhoni: 112 meters

MS Dhoni is well known for his pyrotechnics. Dhoni has powerful hands and he has the skills the send the ball a long way. The talisman batsman was at his peak when he clobbered Clint McKay towards the long-on region in the Commonwealth Bank series. That massive six was measured to travel a massive distance of 112 meters. India went on to win that match by four wickets and Dhoni added the finishing touches to the run-chase.
9. Ijaz Ahmed: 115 meters

Former Pakistan batsman Ijaz Ahmed was known for his stylish strokeplay. The right-hander scored a fine hit of 115 meters in the match against England which was played in 1999. In fact, Pakistan scored only two sixes in that innings and both of them were hit by Ahmed. Interestingly, the ball went out of the stadium and the new ball had to be used.
8. Corey Anderson: 122 meters

The southpaw New Zealand batsman is well known for his explosive batting. Anderson also holds the record for the second fastest hundred in the ODI format as he had scored a blistering century of 36 balls. The left-hander was on song as he hammered 120 meters six against Mohammed Shami when India toured New Zealand in 2014 which helped his team get to 292. However, Anderson was not included in New Zealand’s World Cup team for the upcoming 2019 edition.

7. Chris Gayle:

Chris Gayle is one of the big hitters of the game. Gayle clobbered 120 meters six against India in the ICC World Cup 2010. The southpaw was on fire and there was no escape route from his power-hitting. The left-hander smashed Yusuf Pathan out of the ground and it was monstrous hit from the West Indies opener.
6. Shahid Afridi:

Shahid Afridi loved clearing the boundary. The right-hander had the skills of catapulting his attack from the get-go. The former Pakistan skipper clobbered Andrew Symonds for the gargantuan hit which landed on the second tier of the Perth Stadium in 2005. Afridi also holds the record of hitting the most number of sixes in the ODI format – 351.
5. MS Dhoni

India’s former captain MS Dhoni once again makes the list of the longest sixes in the game. Dhoni was at his best in 2009 when he smashed a straight six over the long-on boundary. The match was played against New Zealand and Dhoni was able to clear the small boundary with absolute ease. On the other hand, Dhoni’s partner Sachin Tendulkar was battling with injury.
4. Mark Waugh

Mark Waugh was known for his wrist work. Waugh had a great charisma about his game and he was a treat to the eyes. The Australian opener made use of his feet against New Zealand off-spinner and hit a fine shot that sailed over the long-on boundary. The right-hander timed the ball with perfection and it was a monstrous hit from the flamboyant batsman.
3. Yuvraj Singh: 119 meters

India’s Yuvraj Singh had the penchant of hitting big sixes. The southpaw was at the peak of his career in the ICC World Cup T20 2007. The left-hander flicked Brett Lee over the square leg boundary and it went for a big six. Yuvraj was on song as he scored 70 runs from only 30 balls. Singh jack-hammered 119 meters and that six is still afresh in the minds of the spectators.
2. Shahid Afridi

Pakistan talisman batsman Shahid Afridi once again makes the list into the longest six lists. Afridi was known for using the long handle and the same was seen when he thwarted a massive six against South Africa when Pakistan toured the Proteas. Afridi had the skills to hit the ground running and he scored 351 sixes in his One Day career.
1. Albert Trott
Albert Trott is one of the few players who played for both England and Australia. In 1899, Trott hit a monstrous hit which went over the building of the Mecca of Cricket, Lord’s. The ball went outside the ground and it is considered as the longest six in the game. In fact, even after more than a century, Trott holds the numero uno position in the longest six lists.
