Top 5 Countries with Most Players Having 10,000+ Runs in International Cricket: Ever since the inception of the beautiful game of cricket, we have seen some exceptional batters grace the ever-charismatic game. Seeing batsmen score runs has been a joy to the spectators, and over the years they have been present in huge numbers to see some brilliant batsmen play some astonishing shots and score thousands of runs.
Cricket is a game which is slightly tilted towards the batters. We have often come across the phrase “Cricket is a batsmen’s game”. However, there is no denying the fact that bowlers play an equally important role in the team. The grace with which the batsmen have applied themselves on the field have set them apart from some of the ordinary batters.

The inventors of cricket have a total of 9 batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 runs in international cricket. It will surprise quite a few to see only 9 English batsmen on the list. Being the inventors of the game, everyone would have expected them to be at the No 1 position.
However, most of the English batsmen have had relatively short careers. Hence not many have managed to get past the 10,000 mark across formats. Scoring 10k runs is a benchmark for any batsmen playing international cricket. England has produced quite a few batsmen. Current Test skipper Joe Root is in the list.

In those days, the shots which Richards used to play left everyone in awe. He is regarded by man as the best batsman to grace the game.
The opening slot had the likes of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes who was stalwarts in their rights. In captain Clive Llyod they had one of the finest left-handed batsmen of the generation. Since then there was a certain Brian Charles Lara who took the world by storm. However, the majority of his career coincided with a declining Windies team. They have ten batsmen in the list.

He went on to make all batting record his own and went on to play for 24 years at the highest level.
