Well, after the conclusion of a brilliant overseas tour, now, it’s time for the limited overs format at home. Australians will be travelling to India for a bilateral series in shorter formats of the game. Firstly, they will be locking horns in 3-match T20I series and then set to lock horns for five times in ODI series. Meanwhile, we figured out 5 players, who can be rested for the series.

Here are they:

5. Mohammad Shami:

The fast bowler has shown a great skill set in the series against Australia and New Zealand. He delivered the goods and almost confirmed his place for the ICC World Cup 2019. He finished New Zealand series by collecting the man of the series award, which certainly a big boost for the Indian management.

Meanwhile, there is a good chance that he can be rested for the series. Shami is prone to injuries and played a lot of cricket in the recent past. And also, Shami never utilised Indian conditions as much as he delivered in the overseas tours. Perhaps, considering all these, selectors would rest him and asked Jasprit Bumrah to replace him.

4. Kuldeep Yadav:

Yet another player, who played a lot of cricket in the recent past. He has been the regular across the formats, hence, travelled with the team more often than not. Owing to the workload, BCCI selectors might rest him for the series against Australia.

During the course, they might ask Ravindra Jadeja to replace him and claim his name for the ICC World Cup 2019 berth. Though Chahal also a regular, Kuldeep Yadav has played a lot of cricket in Test format, which would see him being rested.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar:

Yes, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has played only ODI and T20I games for the team, as he warmed the bench during Test series. But the travel with the team is the major issue, which takes a toll on the body. Moreover, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is almost a certainty to play the ICC World Cup 2019.

With his place being secured, Indian selectors would try their standby players in his absence. As there are only 5 ODI games left, Indian management would love to make the most of the opportunity. Perhaps, they would bring Bumrah in his place.

2. Shikhar Dhawan:

The stylish southpaw Shikhar Dhawan would be rested for the series against Australia. He has done enough for the team to stay in the ICC World Cup 2019 and his vacancy would certainly give the management to try out a few youngsters.

Maybe, Mayank Agarwal would get a look in place of him. Or else, there is a good chance that KL Rahul might receive a call-up as well. Resting Shikhar Dhawan would do a world of good for the team and also a good chance for the southpaw to have his time off the field.

Yes, the vice-captain might be rested for the team. He played enough cricket in the recent past and also tasked to lead the side in absence of Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma has registered scintillating knocks in the recent past and also travelled a lot during the overseas tours.

Much like Shikhar Dhawan, the absence of Rohit Sharma would help India try out a few youngsters. One between Mayank Agarwal or KL Rahul might get the nod. Or else, they both could get the nod as well.
