SunRisers Hyderabad coach Trevor Bayliss has weighed on the batting position of Kane Williamson moving forward in the tournament. Kane Williamson, whose addition in the playing eleven for SunRisers Hyderabad, has clashed with that of Mohammad Nabi, has been an invaluable addition. Following Williamson’s valiant knock against Chennai Super Kings, Trevor Bayliss has confirmed his batting spot.
Kane Williamson came in at number four against SunRisers Hyderabad in Dubai at the loss of Manish Pandey. The Orange Army were in trouble as both Pandey and skipper David Warner perished in quick succession. With his elegant strokeplay and by manoeuvring the gaps, the Kiwi skipper took the match deep in pursuit of 168. However, he could not take Hyderabad past the finish line, departing for 57 off 38 balls in the 18th over.
“Look, there is an argument for playing Williamson higher up the order, obviously he is a high-quality player, currently he is doing the job for us at number four and hopefully bat with some of the young guys in the lower middle order. His experience can help out the younger players. He is a very good player, if he bats at number three, he can play bigger knocks but playing at number four is his role right now,” Bayliss stated as quoted by India Today.
Trevor Bayliss wanting to give youngsters as much opportunity as possible:

The former England coach acknowledged that they are a top-heavy team and SunRisers has done well in the past being that. At the same time, there is a case for blooding youngsters and making them as experienced as other players in the team. Hence, they are trying that as much as possible.
“We have got some good young players in our lineup who are trying to get the experience. We are certainly top-heavy with the batters, we have done well in the past after scoring runs in the top-order. But certainly, we bought some good young players and we are trying to give them as much experience. They do not have as much experience as some of the players have in other teams. We are trying as much as possible,” he added.
