The India National Cricket Team completed a 4-1 series win over New Zealand in the ODIs. On Sunday, February 3rd, the Men in Blue won the fifth and final ODI in Wellington by 35 runs. Though they had faced some early jitters in their innings, superb knocks from Rayudu and the all-rounders India post 252. While chasing, the hosts, for the nth time in the series didn’t get the ideal start. Later, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Shami took five wickets among them and helped India finish the ODIs on a high.
Rayudu, Chahal guide to a comfortable win in Wellington
India won the toss and Rohit decided to bat first. Like the previous game, the visitors were off to a poor start, reeling at 18 for four at one stage. Then, the pair of Ambati Rayudu and Vijay Shankar added 90 runs for the fifth wicket; helping their team gain some momentum. Later, 34 from Kedar Jadhav and 45 off 22 balls from Hardik Pandya saw the Indian team putting 252 on the board. Though Matt Henry was NZ’s highest wicket-taker (4), it was 90 off 113 from Rayudu, which kept India in the game.
During New Zealand’s chase, they suffered early setbacks too. With three of their top four players returning to the pavilion inside 11 overs, the pressure was always going to build. However, much to their amusement, the middle-order stood this time around. Though Latham and James Neesham scored 37 and 44, respectively; the pair couldn’t help the BlackCaps from going down in the final ODI.
As a result, India wrapped up NZ on 217 winning the game by 35 runs.

Great to win this game after being 18-4, great contributions from the middle, lower order today and really loved the way @ImRo45 used these combination of bowlers. Congratulations @BCCI #NZvInd pic.twitter.com/FXR6tDSzLt

This is a superb win. Perhaps the best win of the series. 4-18 to 252 and a brilliant bowling effort. Well on course for WC2019. Pandya mom for me for his game changing knock and two wickets. Rayudu comes close.

Such days are very rare and for India to come back from 18/4 and win the game, speaks of the character shown by the lesser lights. Well played Rayudu, Vijay, Kedar, Pandya, Chahal, Shami… #IndvsNZ #4-1

Fantastic win from India. This one will really please the team a lot & I just loved the intensity with which they bowled today ,despite having already won the series. Great contributions from the middle order with the bat and some excellent bowling by each of the bowlers #NZvIND

India winning an ODI after losing their first four wickets in less than 20 runs batting first:
– 9/4 v Zim 266/8 (Tunbridge Wells) 1983 (60 ov game) India were 17/5 (Kapil Dev 175*)
– 18/4 v NZ 252/10 (Wellington) today (50 ov game) (Ambati Rayudu 90)#NZvInd— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) February 3, 2019
2-1 in Australia and 4-1 in NZ. 5-1 in South Africa. 1-2 in England when the premier bowlers weren’t there. This team if all are fit, and that’s they key, will be the team to beat in WC 2019.

Hardik Pandya – Man of the Match.
Shami's bowling biggest positives and that India posted good scores without much from Kohli, a good confident thing.

Application is the key no matter hows the conditions, Indian batters finally applied themselves in a slightly difficult pitch and got a victory.
ps. don't like Mr. Talent Rohit Sharma as a batter much but he is certainly a much bolder and intelligent captain. #NZvIND
