In a must-win clash, the vice-captain of India, Rohit Sharma showed his class by smashing a scintillating century alongside KL Rahul. The duo ripped West Indies bowling department apart by knocking them out of the park with ease. The duo was helped by Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, in the end, to post a massive total on the board.
Getting into the details, initially, it was Kieron Pollard, who won the toss, asked Virat Kohli-led side to bat first. The openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul never backed away, as they thrashed West Indies’ bowlers to all corners of the park with ease. They never let it loose to give a chance for West Indies to make a comeback into the game.
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul registered 227 runs for opening wicket:
The duo added 227 runs for the first wicket in 37 overs before KL Rahul holing out in the deep off Alzarri Joseph. He was quickly followed by Virat Kohli, who registered a golden duck to his name. However, Shreyas Iyer gave ample support to Rohit Sharma, who went berserk in the middle.

Rohit Sharma continued his dominance in the middle by smashing a blistering 159 off 136 balls. His knock was laced with 17 fours and five sixes. Just when things looked alright for India, Sheldon Cottrell dismissed Rohit Sharma, thus, denying him a double century.
However, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant gave a perfect finish to the innings with their incredible batting in the final overs. Both the batsmen never looked like stopping in the middle, as they took the bowlers to cleaners in the final overs. Rishabh Pant went after fast bowlers while Shreyas Iyer smashed Roston Chase to all corners of the park.

However, Keemo Paul once again showed his brilliance in the middle to restrict India from crossing 400 runs on the board. He picked up the crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant and bowled economical overs in his final spell. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer continued his fine run by scoring a brilliant century.

Rishab Pant shows exactly why we need to have patience with him. Some amazing sixes but the cream on the cake was this exquisite cover drive.
