Twitter Feels KL Rahul's Test Career Is Over As Mayank Agarwal Notched A Fifty On His Debut

Indian National Cricket Team took a brave call as Mayank Agarwal made his debut in the third Test against Australia. Prithvi Shaw’s injury forced KL Rahul and Murali Vijay to open the innings but they failed to provide runs in both the games. And Agarwal grabbed the opportunity with both the hands, playing an entertaining knock of 76 runs in the first essay of the match.

Mayank grabbed the opportunity and rose to the occasion in front of close to 70,000 spectators at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. He became the 295th Test player for India who showed some excellent technique against the new ball. He had faced the speedster Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood with the new cherry and played some exquisite strokes.

Mayank Agarwal, who has been in fine form in domestic Indian cricket, scored his first Test runs with a three through the covers off Josh Hazlewood. Agarwal’s impressive maiden innings saw adulation coming from various quarters. The fans were acknowledging the dazzling debutant at the MCG against Australia.

Moreover, Mayank Agarwal continued to bat well in the post-lunch session. The right-hander also handled Nathan Lyon, and he smacked him for a six before going on to hit a couple of boundaries straight down the ground. Just when it looked like Agarwal will go past the three-figure mark on his debut, Pat Cummins got the better of him at the stroke of Tea.

Agarwal’s contribution is well justified that he will play the remainder of the series. However, his immediate success has raised the questions whether Kl Rahul will get any further chance or not. It will be interesting to see if Rahul is even retained in the squad now for the next Test series. Twitter trolled Rahul for his poor show and felt that Agarwal should’ve replaced him long ago.
