India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant retained his position in Grade A of BCCI’s central contracts. The contracts, which will run for the period from October 2019 to September 2020, was announced by the BCCI on Thursday. The highly-rated batsman had earned a Grade A contract last year too after scoring Test centuries in England and Australia.

However, the fans are not all impressed with the BCCI’s decision to hand Rishabh Pant a Grade A contract this time around. What has made most of the fans even more angry is the absence of MS Dhoni from the list. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, who has not played for India since the World Cup ended last year, could not make it to the list.

Rishabh Pant has endured a terrible time on the field since last year’s World Cup. Since Dhoni decided to take a sabbatical from the game, the youngster has been given ample chances but he has not really managed to grab the opportunity. He has already lost his place in Test team’s playing eleven and his form in ODIs and T20Is is not promising either.

Rishabh Pant has been constantly criticised for the way he has batted in the ongoing home season. His struggle behind the wicket has made things worse for him. And thus when some fans saw his name in the Grade A category, they could not stop themselves from lashing out at the BCCI.

Here are some of the reactions:

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant recently suffered a concussion during the first ODI against Australia and is out of the upcoming second game in Rajkot. Instead of playing the match, he will go to National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation. A call on his availability for the third game would be taken later.
