IPL 2021: Twitter Reacts As CSK Begin Second Leg With A Comfortable 20-Run Win Over MI
Updated - 20 Sep 2021, 01:45 AM
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their first win of the second leg and the sixth win overall in the IPL 2021 season. They defeated arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 31st match of the season on September 19, Sunday.
CSK’s innings was revived by a brilliant innings from Ruturaj Gaikwad. He took his time at the crease after the Yellow Brigade found themselves wanting against the Kiwi duo of Trent Boult and Adam Milne.
They were four down by the 6th over with Ambati Rayudu also having to head back due to an elbow injury. Unfazed, Gaikwad teamed up with Ravindra Jadeja and pushed the innings forward. The momentum-changing over came in the 12th over bowled by Krunal Pandya, where 18 runs were collected.
After that, there was no turning back as Gaikwad piled on the runs at will. Dwayne Bravo came in at the fall of Jadeja’s wicket and gave another massive boost with a great cameo. Eventually, they reached 156/6 in their allotted 20 overs which proved to be a few too many runs in the end.
Similar to CSK, MI was also off to a poor start. However, nobody played the role of the anchor, as Gaikwad did. While Quinton de Kock looked in fine touch, he was done in by Deepak Chahar, who once again proved how good he is in the powerplay.
Saurabh Tiwary, who was added to the playing XI in place of Hardik Pandya, tried to fight it out from one end but ran out of partners. Eventually, MI lost the match by 20 runs, keeping them in fourth place while CSK moved to the top of the table over Delhi Capitals by virtue of their better run rate.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted to CSK vs MI:
It was a fantastic come back from a very experienced team #csk specially after losing early 4 wickets. #mi missed the trick not bowling their attacking bowlers in middle over phase. #IPL2O21

From 25/4 to winning the game. From finding at #7 in 2020 to topping the table right now. C in #CSK stands for Comeback. This is a stellar turnaround. #CSKvMI

One of the best victories for @ChennaiIPL! What a comeback! Can't wait to see the mentor @msdhoni in Indian colours in the upcoming t20 world cup, if he can do what he did today on the field I think we will see a repeat of 2007 coming Oct!#CSKvsMI #IPL2021 #MIvsCSK

Dwayne Bravo to Kieron Pollard, a delivery with at least 30 T20 trophies in it. #IPL2021

Got to love T20 cricket. #CSK were gone, buried and now this is their game.

Clinical performance from #CSK
Even though it was a see saw battle where @Ruutu1331 shone single handedly. The masterstroke for me today was #Hazlewood v @KieronPollard55, he has been a thorn in the flesh for CSK and they would have been happy to see the back of him!#IPL2O21

#deepakchahar is such a predictable bowler! Again 2 wickets in his 3 overs in power-play. With a new ball , Deepak is not deepak but Suraj(?)? @deepak_chahar9 #IPL2O21 pic.twitter.com/xhwDN1ssUE

Regardless of the result, Ruturaj has just played a phenomenal inning. #CSKvsMI

For a young man of slight build and classical batting technique, Ruturaj Gaikwad has adapted very efficiently to T20 cricket.
